AI is not a separate module in Muin — it is woven into every screen. From drafting emails to surfacing urgent issues on your dashboard, Muin’s AI features reduce manual effort and help you make better decisions faster. This guide covers the three core AI capabilities: the Writing Assistant, Dashboard AI, and the Insight Strip.
Writing Assistant
The Writing Assistant helps you draft, rewrite, shorten, translate, and adjust the tone of text anywhere in Muin.
Available Operations

Using the Writing Assistant
- Select text in any text field or open the AI writing panel
- Choose an operation from the toolbar
- Provide any additional instructions:
- For Draft: Describe the purpose, recipient, and subject
- For Rewrite: Explain what should change
- For Translate: Specify the target language
- For Adjust Tone: Select the desired tone
- Click Generate
- Review the result, then accept, edit, or regenerate
Writing Context
The Writing Assistant uses context from the current screen to produce more relevant output:
- When drafting from a vendor record, it knows the vendor’s name and relationship
- When rewriting a task description, it understands the task’s purpose
- Thread context from email chains helps it maintain conversational flow
Dashboard AI
Dashboard AI provides personalized, AI-curated insights every time you open Muin.
What Dashboard AI Shows
When you visit the Dashboard, the AI analyzes your organization’s current state and surfaces:
- Summary: A natural-language overview of what needs your attention today
- Module-specific insights: Findings grouped by area (Finance, Compliance, HR, Vendors)
- Urgency indicators: Each insight is tagged with urgency so you know what to address first
- Action links: Click any insight to jump directly to the relevant record
How It Works
- Navigate to the Dashboard (your home screen)
- The AI scans recent activity across all modules
- Insights are generated and displayed in a prioritized list
- Each insight includes a title, detail explanation, and urgency level
- Processing time is displayed so you know when the data was last refreshed
Personalization
Dashboard AI tailors its output based on:
- Your role and permissions (you only see insights for areas you can access)
- Your recent activity (emphasizes modules you interact with frequently)
- Your organization’s current priorities (compliance deadlines, budget cycles)
Insight Strip
The Insight Strip is a persistent, bottom-docked bar that provides contextual AI guidance as you work.
How the Insight Strip Works
As you navigate Muin, the Insight Strip displays relevant tips, warnings, and recommendations based on your current screen:

Interacting with Insights
- Click an insight to see expanded details and recommended actions
- Dismiss insights that are not relevant to your current work

- Mute specific insight types if they are too noisy
Managing Preferences
Configure the Insight Strip to match your workflow:
- Click the settings icon on the Insight Strip
- Adjust which categories of insights are shown
- Set quiet hours when insights are suppressed
- Mute or unmute specific insight types
Additional Workflows
AI-Assisted Document Review
When reviewing extracted document data, the AI highlights:
- Fields with low confidence scores that need manual verification
- Inconsistencies between extracted data and existing records
- Missing required fields that block downstream workflows
Proactive Alerts
Muin’s AI monitors your data continuously and surfaces alerts before issues escalate:
- Budget thresholds approaching limits
- Vendor compliance documents expiring soon
- Unusual transaction patterns that warrant investigation
These proactive alerts appear in the Insight Strip, on the Dashboard, and optionally as email notifications.
Chat-Based Interaction
Access the AI through the chat interface at /chat for more interactive conversations:
- Ask questions about your data (“What is our total spend with Vendor X this quarter?”)
- Request summaries (“Summarize the compliance status of our top 10 vendors”)
- Get recommendations (“Which invoices should I prioritize for approval today?”)
Tips
- Use Draft for first passes, Rewrite for refinement. Start with a draft, then use rewrite to polish it.
- Provide thread context when drafting email replies. Paste the original message so the AI maintains conversational flow.
- Check Dashboard AI daily. It surfaces issues you might miss when focused on individual tasks.
- Give feedback on Insight Strip suggestions. The AI learns from your feedback to show more relevant insights over time.
- Combine AI features with workflows. Use the Writing Assistant to draft content, then let workflows route it for approval.
