Understanding 1099-NEC Requirements

Automatic Payment Tracking

Muin automatically tracks payments to vendors from:

  • Invoices marked as paid
  • Expense reports with vendor assignments

Payment Aggregation

For each vendor, Muin calculates:

  • YTD Payments - Total payments in the current tax year
  • Payment Count - Number of individual payments

  2. Click Request W-9
  3. Vendor receives email with secure form link
  4. Vendor completes digital W-9

Manual W-9 Upload

For vendors who submit paper W-9s:

  3. Upload scanned document (PDF or image)

    • Tax classification (Individual, LLC, etc.)
    • Tax ID (EIN or SSN)
