Getting started with POS
Enable Muin POS, configure tax, add products, create employee PINs, and take your first order in five steps — set-up takes about ten minutes.
Muin’s Point of Sale lets you take orders, process payments, track inventory, and run kitchen queues — all in the same workspace as the rest of your business operations. Set-up takes about ten minutes.
1. Enable the POS module
In Settings → Modules, toggle Point of Sale on. The Finance navigation adds Register, Kitchen, POS Dashboard, Products, Inventory, Orders, Employees, and Locations & Tax.
2. Configure tax
Go to Locations & Tax. Create a tax configuration:
- Name — e.g., “Sales tax 8%”
- Rate — e.g.,
0.08for 8% - Tax included in price — usually off (tax added at checkout). Toggle on if your posted prices already include tax (common in EU markets).
Mark one configuration as default so the Register uses it automatically.
3. Add products
Go to Products → Add product. Fill name, price, optional barcode/SKU, and toggle Track inventory to decrement stock on each sale.
For bulk import, click Import CSV and upload a file with columns:
name, price, barcode, sku, category, stock_quantity, track_inventory.
4. Create an employee PIN
Go to Employees → Add employee. Choose a unique 6-digit Employee # (e.g., 100001) and set a 4-digit PIN. The cashier uses these to sign in at the Register.
5. Take your first order
Go to Register. Sign in with the employee number + PIN. Tap products to add them to the cart. Press PAY → choose Cash, enter the amount received, see the change due, complete. Optionally email or SMS the receipt.
That’s it. The order appears on the Kitchen display for prep, and the Dashboard shows today’s totals.
