Donor Tax Receipts & Recurring Gifts
How donors download annual tax receipts and manage recurring gifts — pause, resume, cancel, or change the amount — from the self-service portal.
Donors handle the two most common requests — “send me my tax receipt” and “change my monthly gift” — entirely on their own from the donor portal. This guide covers both.
Annual tax receipts
Open Profile → Tax Documents in the donor portal. Muin groups every completed donation by calendar year and shows one row per year with:
- Total given that year
- Number of donations included
- A Download PDF button for the annual receipt
Only completed (confirmed) donations count toward the annual total — gifts still pending bank matching are excluded until they clear, so the receipt always reflects settled amounts.
You can also download the current year’s summary directly from My Donations with the Download PDF button, and filter the donation list by year to see exactly which gifts are included.
When a receipt looks incomplete
If a donation is missing from a year’s total, check its status on My Donations:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Confirmed | Counted in your tax receipt |
| Pending | Being matched to bank records — usually resolves in 1–3 business days |
| Under Review | The organization is verifying details before confirming |
Once a pending gift confirms, it appears in the annual receipt automatically.
Managing recurring gifts
Open Profile → Recurring Giving to see every recurring gift with its amount, schedule, and status. From each gift you can:
- Pause — temporarily stop charges without losing the schedule
- Resume — pick the schedule back up after a pause
- Cancel — end the recurring gift permanently
- Change the amount — adjust your gift without cancelling and re-creating it
Each gift also shows its recent charge history, so you can see exactly when past payments ran.
Failed payments
If a charge fails, the gift enters a grace period rather than cancelling immediately — update your payment method under Profile → Payment Methods and the schedule recovers on the next charge. Saved cards can be added, removed, or set as the default from the same tab.
Getting into the portal
The portal uses passwordless magic links — enter the email you used to donate, and a sign-in link arrives in your inbox. No password to remember, and the link only works for your own giving history.
