Billing Overview
Understand Muin's billing lifecycle — the 30-day free trial, the 7-day read-only grace period, and moving to a paid subscription plan.
This guide explains Muin’s billing lifecycle, from your initial trial through paid subscription.
Trial Period
All new Muin accounts start with a 30-day free trial that includes:
- Full access to all platform features
- All modules included in your plan tier
- No credit card required to start
- Email reminders as your trial approaches expiration
Trial Timeline

| 30-16 days | Full access, trial countdown visible |
| 15 days | First email reminder sent |
| 8 days | Second reminder with upgrade prompts |
| 1 day | Final warning email |
| 0 days | Trial expires, grace period begins |
Grace Period
When your trial expires, you enter a 7-day grace period:
- Read-only access: View all your documents and data
- No write operations: Cannot upload, create, edit, or delete
- Billing always accessible: Upgrade at any time to restore full access
Grace Period Indicators
During the grace period, you’ll see:
- A banner at the top of every page indicating read-only mode
- A modal explaining your trial status with upgrade options
- Days remaining in your grace period

Account Suspension
If you don’t upgrade within the 7-day grace period:
- Your account becomes suspended
- You cannot log in to access data
- Your data is preserved for 30 days
- Upgrade at any time to restore access
Important: We never delete your data without notice. You’ll receive multiple email reminders before any data deletion.
Upgrading Your Account
To upgrade from trial or restore suspended access:
- Go to Settings > Billing
- Choose your plan (Starter, Growth, or Business)
- Select billing interval (monthly or annual)
- Complete checkout via Stripe
Beta participants receive a 50% discount on all plans for the first year.
