Plaid Bank Feed for Reconciliation

Connect a bank account through Plaid so bank transactions arrive in reconciliation automatically, and keep each connection healthy.

The Plaid bank feed signs in to your bank through Plaid and brings your bank transactions into All Transactions without uploading statements.

Is it available for my organization?

The Plaid bank feed is being turned on organization by organization while Muin completes Plaid’s production review. If it is not on for your organization yet, connecting a bank does not bring transactions into reconciliation. Use CSV import in the meantime, or ask Muin support about joining the early group.

Where to find it

Finance → Reconciliation → Settings, then press Manage Plaid connections. The page is called Plaid bank connections. You need permission to manage ledger reconciliation to connect or change a bank.

Connecting a bank

  1. Press Connect bank account. Plaid opens in a window.
  2. Find your bank and sign in with your online banking login.
  3. Choose the accounts to share and finish.
  4. The bank appears on the page. Its first transactions arrive within minutes. Plaid brings in up to 24 months of history.

For months before that, or a bank Plaid does not support, press Import older statements and upload a CSV, OFX or QFX statement.

You can connect more than one bank. Each syncs on its own.

What each status means

Status What it means What to do
Healthy Transactions are arriving. Nothing. Press Refresh now to pull new ones right away.
Reconnect required The bank needs you to sign in again, usually after a password change. Nothing new arrives until you do. Press Reconnect and sign in.
Consent expiring Your consent for Muin to read the account is about to end. Press Reconnect before it lapses.
Error Muin cannot reach the account, often during a short bank or Plaid outage. Refresh now and Reconnect are not offered in this state. If it stays in error, press Disconnect, then Connect bank account to link the bank again.
Removed The connection was disconnected. Connect the bank again if you still need it.

The Overview page shows the same health on its Bank (Plaid) tile: Healthy, Degraded, Disconnected or Not connected.

Disconnecting a bank

Press Disconnect on the bank and type DISCONNECT to confirm. Plaid removes Muin’s access at once. Matched transactions and their records are not touched. Reconnecting means going through the bank’s sign-in and consent again.

Common problems

  • “No bank accounts connected yet.” No bank is linked. Press Connect bank account.
  • “No transactions synced yet.” The first sync is still running, or the feed is not on for your organization yet (see above).
  • A card purchase is missing. Pending transactions appear only after the bank posts them, usually in one to three business days.
  • “Couldn’t load bank connections.” Reload the page. Your connections are not affected.
  • You get a “Plaid login required” alert. Choose where these alerts go under Notifications in Settings, then reconnect the bank.
