AI Credits
How AI credits work in Muin: the monthly allowance per plan, the included building and testing credits, usage alerts, credit packs on your regular invoice, proration, month-end expiry, auto top-up and the upgrade suggestion.
AI work you ask for uses AI credits: an agent run, Ask Muin, drafting a workflow, and building or testing an agent. AI that Muin runs in the background without anyone asking uses no credits, for example page insights, record summaries, inbox sorting and the morning briefing’s news. Your plan includes credits each month, and you can add more when you need them.
When you’d use this
- You want to know how many credits your plan includes and what uses them.
- You got a usage alert and want to add credits.
- You are building agents and want to know what building costs.
- You want to see which agent or workflow used the most credits this month.
Finding it
Settings → Billing → Usage. Owners and admins see the whole workspace. A member with agent access, such as the Agent Operator role, sees the usage of the agents they turned on. Only an account owner can buy credits.
The usage month
Credits run on the usage month: the calendar month in UTC. Your monthly credits reset at the start of each usage month. Unused credits do not roll over.
Monthly credits per plan
| Plan | AI credits a month | Included building and testing credits a month |
|---|---|---|
| Free trial | 100 | 100 |
| Starter | 500 | 100 |
| Growth | 5,000 | 500 |
| Scale | 20,000 | 500 |
| Enterprise | 100,000 | 500 |
Building and testing (included)
Building an agent uses AI: drafting it from your sentence, Ask to change, the problem check, Always ask me when… rules, test runs and replays. Drafting a workflow and importing an SOP do too. These calls are labelled Building and testing.
The included building and testing credits are spent first and shown as “(included)”, for example “Building and testing (included): 40 of 100 credits”. After those, building and testing uses your monthly AI credits at the cost of each call, like any other AI work.
When both are used up, building stops with a card to add credits. Your draft is kept, and the step you were on runs again once credits are added.
What uses credits
The Usage Breakdown tab shows the credits used this month, grouped by Agent, Workflow, Feature, Purpose or Action. Each row names the agent or workflow in plain words.
| Purpose | What it is |
|---|---|
| Running | Agents and workflows doing their work, and Ask Muin |
| Building and testing | Drafting, changing and testing agents and workflows |
| Quality checks | Review real runs, when you turn it on for an agent, and comparisons on an agent’s Evaluate tab |
An agent’s own Overview tab shows its credits per run and its credits this month. A monthly limit on the agent’s Settings tab pauses it when it reaches that many credits.
Alerts
Owners are told when the workspace has used 50%, 75%, 90% and 100% of this month’s AI credits, once per level per month. 50% is in the app only; the others also send an email.
The same notice shows on the Agents, Workflows and Usage pages: “You have used 90% of this month’s AI credits. They reset on …”, with Add credits for owners and See usage for everyone. Dismissing it hides it until the next level. After two alerts in one month, the notice also offers Turn on auto top-up.
Credit packs
| Pack | Credits | Full month price |
|---|---|---|
| Small | 250 | $18 |
| Medium | 500 | $32 |
| Large | 1,000 | $55 |
- A pack gives its full credits right away.
- Its price is prorated by the days left in the usage month, today included.
- It expires at the end of the usage month.
- The purchase dialog shows the prorated price, the expiry date and when it is billed, before you buy.
- Only an account owner can buy credits.
How a pack is billed
Packs are on the same bill as everything else:
- Monthly plan. “Added to your next invoice on” a date.
- Annual plan. Billed on the monthly usage invoice together with any overage.
- No monthly bill, for example during a trial or after a cancellation is scheduled. The dialog says Charged now and the pack is charged to your saved payment method when you buy.
A payment that needs extra confirmation shows “Your payment is processing. The credits are added as soon as it clears.” If it clears after the month ended, the credits are valid to the end of the month it cleared in. Refunds are handled one at a time: contact support.
Buying a pack
- Open Settings → Billing → Usage.
- On the AI credits card, click Save with a pack. The usage notice also has Add credits.
- Pick a pack and check its price, expiry and billing.
- Click Buy … credits for ….
Auto top-up
On the Auto-Buy tab, Enable Auto-Buy buys credits for you when usage reaches the level you set. Choose Trigger when usage reaches, Credits to purchase each time and a Monthly spending cap.
Going over your allowance
On a paid plan, a small grace margin lets work continue past your monthly credits. Credits used over your allowance are billed at $0.02 a credit on your next invoice. Past the margin, AI work is refused until you add credits or the month resets. Ask Muin still answers how-to questions from Muin Help, free of charge, and its panel says it is answering how-to questions only.
Upgrade suggestion
If you bought packs two usage months in a row, Usage and Billing show “You bought extra credits two months in a row.” with the next plan up and what it would save you a month. It shows only when the next plan would cost you less.
When you cancel
AI usage over your allowance and AI credit packs not yet billed go on your final invoice, along with email, SMS and e-signature usage over your allowance. The cancellation confirmation lists each one and the total before you confirm.
What it affects
- An agent stops running when the workspace is out of credits, or when it reaches its own monthly limit.
- Ask Muin warns in its panel when this month’s credits are close to running out or used up. Out of credits, it answers how-to questions from Muin Help only, and those answers cost nothing.
- Purchased packs count toward this month only.
- Reviews of real runs are charged as credits for the agents that have them turned on.

| “We could not complete the purchase. Try again.” | The purchase failed | Nothing was bought. Try again |
| A card to add credits while building an agent | This month’s credits and included building credits are used up | Add credits. Your draft is kept |
