Importing and Exporting Your Data
Bring existing records into Muin from CSV files and export your data back out — for migration, backups, or analysis in another tool.
The Data Import hub (Settings → Data Import) is where you bring existing records into Muin and take your data back out.
Importing from CSV
- Choose what you’re importing (the hub lists the supported record types).
- Download the template for that type so your columns line up.
- Upload your CSV — Muin maps the columns and shows a preview before anything is written.
- Review the preview, fix any flagged rows, and confirm the import.
Imports are validated row-by-row: rows that fail validation are reported so you can correct and re-upload, rather than silently dropping data.
Exporting
Most list screens across Muin offer an Export CSV action for the records you’re viewing (with current filters applied). Use exports for backups, board reporting, or analysis in a spreadsheet.
Tips
- Start with the provided template — matching the column headers is the most reliable way to get a clean import.
- Import a small sample first to confirm the mapping, then run the full file.
- Exports respect your active filters, so narrow the list first if you only need a subset.
