Organization Chart Overview

The org chart helps you:

  • Visualize hierarchy - See who reports to whom at a glance
  • Explore teams - Drill down into specific departments
  • Navigate structure - Find anyone in the organization quickly
  • Maintain accuracy - Auto-updates as employees change roles

Viewing the Org Chart

Accessing the Org Chart

  1. Navigate to HROrganization Chart
  2. The chart loads with the CEO/top-level leader at the top
  3. Scroll to see the full organization

Tree View

The default view shows the complete organizational tree:

Reading the Tree

Each node represents an employee and shows:

  • Name - Employee’s full name
  • Title - Current job title
  • Department - Team or department name
  • Avatar - Profile photo (if available)

Expanding and Collapsing

To focus on specific areas:

  • Click the collapse button (−) to hide direct reports
  • Click the expand button (+) to show hidden reports
  • Collapsed nodes show a count of hidden employees

Drill down into specific teams for a focused view:

Accessing Team View

  1. Click on any manager in the org chart
  2. Select View Team from the context menu
  3. Or click the team name badge

Team View Features

When viewing a team:

  • Team lead shown at the top
  • Direct reports listed below
  • Team stats - Size, open positions, tenure
  • Breadcrumb navigation - Path back to full org chart

Search and Find

Find anyone in the organization:

  1. Click the Search icon or press /
  2. Start typing a name, title, or department
  3. Results appear as you type
  4. Click a result to center the view on that person

Search Tips

  • Search by first name, last name, or both
  • Search by job title (“Software Engineer”)
  • Search by department (“Engineering”, “Sales”)
  • Use partial matches (“Eng” finds “Engineering”)

Employee Details

Viewing Details

Click any employee node to see:

  • Full profile - Name, title, contact info
  • Reporting line - Manager and skip-level
  • Direct reports - Who reports to them
  • Tenure - How long they’ve been in role/company
  • Location - Office or remote location

Quick Actions

From the detail view:

  • View Profile - Open full employee profile
  • View Team - Switch to team view
  • Send Message - Open email or Slack
  • Copy Link - Share link to this position

Department Views

Filtering by Department

Focus on specific departments:

  1. Use the Department dropdown filter
  2. Select a department to view
  3. Only that department’s structure is shown
  4. Other departments are grayed out or hidden

Available Departments

Departments are pulled from your HR data:

  • Engineering
  • Sales
  • Marketing
  • Finance
  • HR
  • Operations
  • Customer Success
  • And any custom departments you’ve defined

Org Chart Data

Data Source

The org chart automatically reflects:

  • Employee records in Muin
  • Manager assignments
  • Department memberships
  • Title changes

Updating the Chart

Changes happen automatically when:

  • New employees are added
  • Reporting lines change
  • Employees leave
  • Titles or departments update

Manual Refresh

If needed, refresh the view:

  1. Click the Refresh icon
  2. Latest data is fetched
  3. Chart updates in real time

Printing and Sharing

Print the org chart:

  1. Click Print button
  2. Select print options:
    • Full organization
    • Current view only
    • Specific department
  3. Choose orientation (portrait/landscape)
  4. Print or save as PDF

If someone isn’t showing:

  • Check they have an employee record

  • Update the employee’s manager field
  • Chart will update automatically
  • Check for pending approvals

Performance Issues

If the chart loads slowly:

  • Try filtering to a specific department
  • Collapse expanded branches
  • Use team view for large orgs
