Client Task Inbox

Complete tasks your accountant or advisor assigns: upload documents, answer questions, and track deadlines from one simple inbox.

If an accountant or advisor manages your organization’s books or filings through Muin, the Client Task Inbox is where their requests reach you. Each task tells you exactly what they need — a document, a confirmation, an answer — in plain language, with a deadline and a reason. No email threads, no lost attachments.

What You’ll See

Open My Tasks to see every action item your advisor has assigned. Each task card shows:

ElementWhat It Means
Title and descriptionWhat your advisor needs, in plain language
WhyThe reason this matters — for example, why a receipt is needed for your filing
990 SectionIf shown, this task feeds a specific part of your IRS Form 990
Due dateWhen your advisor needs it; overdue tasks are flagged in red
Status badgeOverdue or Complete at a glance

Filtering Your Tasks

Use the filter tabs at the top to focus your view:

  • All — every task, past and present
  • Pending — tasks still waiting on you
  • Completed — everything you’ve already finished
  • Overdue — tasks past their deadline; handle these first

Completing a Task

  1. Read the task description and the Why note so you know what’s being asked
  2. If the task asks for a document, click Upload and attach the file
  3. Click Complete when you’re done
  4. The task moves to your Completed list and your advisor is notified

Uploading Documents

When a task asks for a document (a bank statement, a receipt, a grant letter), click Upload on the task card. Muin reads the document as soon as it arrives:

  • It identifies what kind of document you uploaded
  • It extracts the key details your advisor needs
  • It links the document to the task automatically, so nothing gets misfiled

If the document doesn’t match what the task asked for, you’ll see feedback right away — you can upload a replacement without waiting for your advisor to notice.

Tasks Linked to Your Form 990

Some tasks show a 990 Section label. Your advisor prepares your organization’s IRS Form 990 from the information you provide, and these tasks map directly to a part of the return. Completing them promptly keeps your filing on schedule.

Tips

  1. Handle Overdue first. The Overdue filter shows everything past its deadline — these are the items most likely to hold up your advisor’s work.
  2. Read the Why note. It explains how your answer or document will be used, which often makes it obvious what to send.
  3. Upload through the task, not by email. Documents uploaded from the task card are classified and linked automatically; emailed attachments aren’t.
  4. Check back after big events. Year-end, grant awards, and filing season typically generate new tasks from your advisor.
