Passwords & Account Recovery
Reset a forgotten Muin password, understand password requirements, recover a locked account, and keep your credentials secure.
Locked out, forgot your password, or setting a new one? This page covers everything about Muin passwords and getting back into your account.
Resetting a Forgotten Password
- On the login page, click Forgot password?
- Enter the email address on your Muin account and submit.
- Check your inbox for the reset email and follow its link. For security, the same confirmation appears whether or not the email has an account — so if nothing arrives, double-check you used the email you were invited with, and look in spam.
- Choose a new password that meets the requirements below and confirm it. You can sign in immediately with the new password.
Reset links are single-use and expire — if yours has expired, just request another.
Password Requirements
Every Muin password must have:
- At least 8 characters
- One uppercase letter (A–Z)
- One lowercase letter (a–z)
- One number (0–9)
- One special character (!@#$%^&*…)
The registration and reset forms check these live as you type, so you’ll see exactly which rule still needs attention before you submit.
Changing Your Password While Signed In
Go to Settings → Security and choose Change next to Password. You’ll confirm your current password, then set the new one against the same requirements.
Account Lockout
After repeated failed sign-in attempts, Muin temporarily locks the account to block password-guessing. The lock releases automatically after a short wait — you don’t need to do anything. If you’ve forgotten the password, use the reset flow above rather than retrying guesses.
Keeping Your Account Secure
- Turn on two-factor authentication — it’s the single biggest upgrade to account security. See Two-Factor Authentication.
- Use a password manager so the password can be long and unique to Muin.
- Never share credentials — invite teammates with their own accounts instead; roles control what each person can access.
- Review trusted devices and active sessions in Settings → Security and revoke anything you don’t recognize.
