Tax Ready Personal is Muin Tax Ready for one tax year, for individuals with Schedule C income. You pay once for the year and hand your preparer one package for it.
Muin organizes your records. It does not compute tax, fill in or file a return, or e-file. Review everything with a tax professional or your filing software before you file.
Who it is for
- You file Schedule C (Form 1040) as a sole proprietor or a single-member LLC.
- You want one tax year ready for your preparer, without a monthly subscription.
It does not cover W-2 wages or investments. Your preparer handles those from your other documents.
What it includes
| Part | What you get |
|---|---|
| The readiness score | How ready your books are for your preparer, and what is left to do |
| Home office, miles and tax forms | Your home office square footage, your business miles and the tax forms you received, for one tax year |
| The tax package | One package for your preparer, for that year |
Tax Ready Personal runs on the same checklist as Muin Tax Ready. The steps are described in Tax Season Prep.
Price and access
- Tax Ready Personal is $29, paid once, for one tax year.
- Access runs through Oct 15 of the next year, the extended filing deadline.
- After Oct 15 of the next year, that tax year can no longer be bought.
- A purchase can be refunded within 30 days, as long as its credit toward Muin Tax Ready has not been spent.
Moving to Muin Tax Ready
Muin Tax Ready covers every year, billed monthly or yearly. See the Tax Ready page for its price.
If you move to Muin Tax Ready within the same tax year, what you paid for Tax Ready Personal counts toward it. The credit ends on Jan 1 of the next year.
Get your year ready
These steps are the same as in Tax Season Prep.
- Connect your bank, so the year’s transactions come in on their own. Import CSV, OFX or QFX statements for any month that is missing.
- Categorize every transaction, so each one lands on a line of Schedule C.
- Attach receipts for business expenses of $75 or more, and for all lodging.
- Review purchases over $2,500. Record equipment as an asset so your preparer can depreciate it.
- Enter your home office square footage. Muin totals your business miles from the mileage on your expense reports.
- Upload the tax forms you received, such as 1099-K forms, other 1099s and last year’s return.
- Check Review your tax lines: every account should be on a line of your return.
- Select Download tax package and send the file to your preparer.
What the tax package holds
The package is a ZIP file. Among other files it holds your tax lines as a CSV and a PDF, expenses that still need a receipt, large purchases to review, contractors who may need a 1099, your tax-year details and a MANIFEST file that lists every file in the package. The full list is in Tax Season Prep.
