Build With AI From a Document
Drop a written procedure into Muin, or describe it, and get draft workflows, agents and policies to review one by one. Nothing is switched on until you approve it.
Build with AI reads a written procedure and drafts the workflows, agents and policies it describes. You review each one and approve the ones you want.
When you’d use this
- You have an employee handbook or an SOP document and want the procedures in it running in Muin.
- You can describe the process in a paragraph but do not want to draw it step by step.
- You are setting up a new organization and your procedures already exist on paper.
Finding it
Sidebar → Automation → Workflow Catalog, then Build with AI.
It needs permission to manage workflow definitions, because every control on the page writes something. Drafting also needs the Custom Workflows feature on your plan - on a lower tier you see an upgrade prompt rather than an error.
Two ways in
- Describe it. Type what you want in the box. At least 10 characters.
- Drop a document. Upload a PDF, .docx or .doc file.
Either way: “We work out what each part should become and draft it. Nothing is switched on until you approve it.”
What a document has to look like
| Limit | Value |
|---|---|
| File types | PDF, .docx, .doc |
| Maximum size | 10 MB |
| Minimum readable text | 200 characters |
| Procedures found per document | Up to 40 |
| Imports allowed | 5 per organization per hour |
A scanned page with no text layer is named as such rather than silently producing nothing. A very long document is truncated and the page says it was truncated - it never quietly drops the rest.
Reviewing the drafts
Muin splits the document into procedures and drafts each one. The page polls while that happens, so you can watch the rows fill in.
Each row carries a What should this become? choice:
| Kind | What approving it creates |
|---|---|
| Workflow | A workflow definition |
| Agent | An agent definition |
| Policy | An operational HR policy |
| Manual | Nothing. It is a step a person does, recorded so you know it was not missed |
Per row you can edit the draft, ask for a re-draft, Approve it, or Discard it. Discarding confirms first.
There is deliberately no “Approve all”. Each of these creates a real object in your organization, so each one gets a decision. A manual row has no Approve control at all, because there is nothing to create.
Some rows need something set up before they can finish - a connector authorized, for example. The page tells you when one thing is still outstanding so you do not leave the import half done.
Recent imports at the bottom lists previous sessions so you can go back to one. Remove this import clears a session you are finished with.
What it affects
- Approving a row creates a workflow definition, an agent definition or a policy - and it is inactive in every case. Nothing you import starts running on its own.
- To make an approved workflow live, publish it through the normal review gate.
- An approved agent still needs setting up before it runs. See Turning On an Agent.
- Your uploaded file is left untouched. Nothing is changed in the document itself.
- Drafting uses AI credits, labelled Building and testing on Settings → Billing → Usage. Your plan’s included building and testing credits are spent first. See AI Credits.
When it goes wrong
| What you see | Why | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| “No procedures in this document” / “We read the document but found nothing that looks like a procedure.” | The text did not describe a process | Your file is untouched. Use Import another document, or describe the process in the box instead |
| “<name> is empty. Choose the document you want to import.” | The file has no content | Pick the right file |
| The upload is refused as too large | Over the 10 MB limit | Split the document, or import the relevant section |
| A message saying the scan has no readable text | The PDF is an image with no text layer | Run it through OCR first, or paste the text into the box |
| “Tell us a little more - at least 10 characters.” | The description is too short | Write a sentence |
| You cannot import again for a while | Five imports per hour per organization | Wait, then continue. This is the tightest AI limit Muin ships, because each import runs the model many times |
| An upgrade prompt instead of the drafting controls | Custom Workflows is not on your plan | Talk to your account owner |
| A message that this month’s AI credits and included building credits are used up | There are no credits left for drafting this month | An owner can add credits on Settings → Billing → Usage, or wait for the month to reset |
Next step
- Building Workflows - publish what you approved.
- Reading a Workflow Run - watch it work.
- Building a Custom Agent - finish an agent the import drafted.
