What is Muin Tax Ready?
Muin Tax Ready gets your books ready for tax season and hands your preparer one package. It reads the tax year in your books, shows each step still open with a link to the page where you fix it, and builds the tax package your preparer or filing software works from.
It starts with a free readiness score. Open it from **Products > Muin Tax Ready**, or go to **Finance > Tax & Compliance > Tax Season Prep**.
Can I buy Muin Tax Ready today?
You can use every Tax Ready step today in the Muin platform, on a Platform Plan with a 30-day trial: [start a 30-day trial](/signup?source=site). The free readiness score also works on its own. The paid Tax Ready plan sold on its own is not on sale yet. When it opens, it is $39 a month or $390 a year.
Leave your email with **Notify me** on the [Muin Tax Ready page](/products/tax-ready) and we will tell you when the paid plan is available.
What is free and what is paid in Muin Tax Ready?
Free: the readiness score. That is the Tax Season Prep checklist for the year and the Savings and Risks totals.
Paid: the totals for each line of your return under **Review your tax lines**, each Savings and Risks item with the records it comes from, the year's inputs in **Tax Year Details** (home office, miles and tax forms you received) and the tax package download. On a Platform Plan, every one of these steps works today. The paid Tax Ready plan sold on its own comes later. On the free tier of Tax Ready on its own, a paid step shows a card that says the paid plan is not on sale yet, instead of an error, and your readiness score keeps working.
What does the readiness score check?
The share of the year's Tax Season Prep steps that are done. The steps include connecting your bank, filling in missing months, categorizing transactions, attaching receipts, separating personal spending, reviewing large purchases, reviewing your tax lines, uploading tax forms you received and collecting W-9s from contractors.
Your filing profile decides which steps appear: Schedule C, Form 1120-S, 1065, 1120 or 990. Open it at **Finance > Tax & Compliance > Tax Season Prep**.
What is in the tax package, and who is it for?
A ZIP file for your tax preparer or your filing software. It holds your tax lines as a CSV and a PDF, a TurboTax summary for businesses, expenses that still need a receipt, large purchases to review, owner and personal items, assets placed in service, contractors who may need a 1099, your tax-year details and a MANIFEST file that lists every file in the package.
Select **Download tax package** on **Finance > Tax & Compliance > Tax Season Prep**. The download is a paid step.
Does Muin compute my tax or file my return?
No. Muin organizes your records and hands your preparer or filing software one package. It does not compute your tax, fill in or file a return. Your preparer decides what applies to you.
Does Muin Tax Ready work with QuickBooks?
Yes. If your books are in QuickBooks and no bank is connected to Muin, connect QuickBooks under **Connectors** and Tax Season Prep reads your QuickBooks company instead.
Under **Map QuickBooks accounts to tax lines**, each QuickBooks account shows a suggested line of your return. Pick a line and select **Save**; your choice always wins over the suggestion.
Does Muin Tax Ready work for nonprofits and the Form 990?
Yes. When your filing profile says Form 990, Tax Season Prep adds the nonprofit steps: split expenses by purpose, complete large donor records for Schedule B, assign restricted gifts and start your Form 990 workspace. If your filing profile does not say which return you file, Muin prepares your books for Form 990.
For the return itself, see [Muin 990](/for/nonprofits/990).
Who on my team can see Muin Tax Ready?
Owners and admins see all of it. Other team members need Finance access in their role: with view access they can open Tax Season Prep, Savings and Risks and the tax package; saving the year's inputs in **Tax Year Details** needs edit access. Team members without Finance access do not see these pages.
What does the Tax Ready panel on the product page show?
Open **Products > Muin Tax Ready**. The panel shows where your tax prep stands for the year in five tiles:
- **Readiness**: the share of the prep steps that are done.
- **Open items**: everything left across the prep steps.
- **Flagged transactions**: transactions that need a receipt, look personal or may be an asset.
- **1099 vendors without a W-9**: vendors paid over the 1099 threshold with no W-9 on file.
- **Tax package**: ready to download, or how many prep steps are left.
The 1099 tile opens **Finance > Tax & Compliance > 1099 & W-9** filtered to vendors missing a W-9. The other tiles open **Tax Season Prep** for that year.
How do I set up Muin Tax Ready?
Open **Products > Muin Tax Ready** and select **Run setup**. Setup has three steps:
1. Connect your books: connect QuickBooks under **Connectors**.
2. Answer the year's tax questions in **Tax Year Details**.
3. Turn on the Tax Savings and Risk Watcher.
When setup is done, your first readiness score shows on the product page and on **Tax Season Prep**.
How do I cancel Muin Tax Ready, and what do I keep?
Open **Products > Muin Tax Ready** and click **Stop renewing**, then confirm. You keep the paid steps until the end of the period you have paid for. After that, the year's inputs and the tax package lock again.
Your books, your tax-year details and the free readiness score stay. Nothing in your books is deleted.
Can I get a refund for Muin Tax Ready?
Refunds follow Muin's billing policy: within 14 days of your first subscription payment, contact Muin support at contact@falaah.ai.
Can I ask Muin instead of opening the checklist?
Yes. Ask "Am I ready for tax season?" in Ask Muin to get the open steps in chat, or "What could I save on taxes?" for the Savings and Risks items.
