How do I take my first order?

After enabling POS, configuring tax, adding at least one product, and creating an employee PIN, take your first order: 1. Navigate to **Finance** → **Register**. 2. Sign in with the employee number and PIN. 3. Tap a product to add it to the cart. 4. Press **PAY**. 5. Choose **Cash**, enter the amount received, and complete. Why didn't my customer receive the SMS notification?

Common causes: 1. **No phone captured** — the SMS field on the receipt dialog was left empty. The order completes but no SMS goes out. 2. **Invalid phone format** — phones must be E.164 format (e.g., `+15555550100`). 3. **SMS service down** — Muin retries three times automatically. If all retries fail, the order shows a "notification failed" badge in the Orders manager view, with a manual **Retry** action. 4. **Tier limit** — your plan may include a monthly SMS quota. Check **Settings** → **Usage**. You can always resend manually from the Orders detail view using the **Resend SMS** action.

My employee is locked out of POS. How do I unlock them?

After 5 failed PIN attempts, the account is locked for 15 minutes. To unlock immediately: 1. Go to **Finance** → **POS** → **Employees** as a manager. 2. Click the locked employee's row. 3. Click **Reset PIN**. Enter a new 4-digit PIN. 4. The employee can now sign in with the new PIN. The lock automatically clears after 15 minutes if no manager action is taken.

Why is my stock going negative?

POS prevents going negative on tracked products by rejecting orders that would oversell. If you see negative stock, it's almost always one of: 1. **Stock adjusted to a negative value manually** — check the adjustment audit log. 2. **A return processed for an item that wasn't originally in inventory** (rare). 3. **Inventory counted incorrectly** — recount and use **Adjust** → **Set absolute**. If none of these applies, contact support — this case should be impossible.

My order shows the wrong tax amount. What's going on?

Most common causes: 1. **Wrong default config** — go to **Locations & Tax** and verify which configuration is marked default. 2. **Tax-included pricing toggle** — if your prices already include tax (common in EU markets), enable **Tax included in price**. Otherwise leave it off (tax added at checkout). 3. **Exempt categories** — products in exempt categories don't have tax added. 4. **Tips aren't taxable** — tips are excluded from the taxable base. If math still looks off, share the order number with support — every calculation is logged.
