What is the Muin Referral & Affiliate Program?

Muin offers two referral tracks: **Track A - Customer Referrals:** Existing customers earn 10% monthly credits for up to 12 months per referral. Credits are applied to your Stripe billing automatically. **Track B - Affiliate Program:** Marketing partners earn 10% cash commissions for up to 12 months per referral. Commissions are paid monthly via ACH or PayPal. Both tracks reward you for bringing new paying customers to Muin.

How do I refer someone as a customer?

As an existing Muin customer: 1. Go to **Settings > Referrals** in your dashboard 2. Copy your unique referral link or code 3. Share it with a friend or colleague 4. When they sign up and make their first payment, you start earning credits Your referral code is generated automatically when you become a paying customer. Each active referral earns you 10% of their monthly subscription as a billing credit.

How do I join the Affiliate Program?

To become a Muin affiliate: 1. Visit the [Affiliate Program](/affiliate) page 2. Fill out the application form with your details 3. Wait for approval (typically 1-2 business days) 4. Once approved, you'll receive your unique referral link and code 5. Start sharing and earning commissions You don't need to be a Muin customer to be an affiliate.

How much do I earn per referral?

Both tracks earn **10% of the referred customer's monthly subscription** for up to **12 months**. **Example:** If your referral pays $99/month: - **Track A (Customer):** You earn $9.90/month in billing credits - **Track B (Affiliate):** You earn $9.90/month in cash commissions Credits and commissions are calculated on each billing cycle for up to 12 consecutive months.

How many people can I refer at once?

- **Track A (Customers):** Up to 7 concurrent active referrals. Once a referral churns or expires, a new slot opens. - **Track B (Affiliates):** Unlimited referrals. There is no cap on concurrent active referrals. "Active" means the referred customer is currently paying. The 7-slot limit for Track A prevents abuse while keeping the program accessible.

How and when do I get paid?

**Track A (Customers):** Credits are applied automatically to your monthly Stripe bill. No action needed. **Track B (Affiliates):** 1. Commissions are held for **30 days** after earning (to allow for refunds) 2. After the hold period, commissions become available 3. Payouts are processed **monthly on the 15th** 4. Minimum payout: **$50 for ACH/PayPal**, **$100 for wire transfer** 5. Payment via ACH (US), PayPal, or wire transfer (international) Set your payout method in the Affiliate Portal under Profile.

What tax forms do I need to submit?

**US affiliates:** Submit a W-9 form with your SSN or EIN. If you earn $2,000 or more in a calendar year, you'll receive a 1099 (per the 2026 OBBBA reporting threshold). **International affiliates:** Submit a W-8BEN form. Tax document 1042-S may be issued if applicable. Tax forms can be submitted through the Affiliate Portal under **Tax Forms**. SSN/EIN values are encrypted at rest using AES-256-GCM.

Can referral discounts stack with other discounts?

No. Muin uses a **max-wins** discount strategy. Only the highest applicable discount is applied: - Beta program discount (50%) - Nonprofit discount (25%) - Referral discount (10%) The discount that saves you the most money is automatically selected. Discounts never combine.

What happens if a referred customer cancels?

If a referred customer cancels their subscription (churns): - **Future credits/commissions stop** immediately - **Already-paid commissions are not clawed back** - **Held commissions** (within the 30-day hold period) are reversed - **Track A:** A referral slot opens up for a new referral - **Track B:** The referral status changes to "churned" in your dashboard

How does Muin prevent referral fraud?

Muin uses automated fraud detection that monitors for: - Disposable email addresses - Same IP address across referrals - Same email domain as referrer - Rapid signups (under 5 minutes from click) - Same device fingerprint - Multiple referrals in the same day Muin uses a tiered fraud response model: - **Score 0-30:** Auto-approved (normal flow) - **Score 31-60:** Flagged for manual review - **Score 61-80:** Held as high risk - **Score 81+:** Automatically blocked Fraudulent activity may result in account suspension and forfeiture of pending commissions.

What can I do in the Affiliate Portal?

How does a new customer use a referral code?

When signing up for Muin: 1. Click a referral link (code is automatically applied) 2. Or enter the referral code manually during signup 3. The code is validated and the referral is tracked 4. Once the customer makes their first payment, the referral activates Referral codes are 8 characters, uppercase, and case-insensitive. Attribution windows last 90 days from the last click.
