Your AI Business Platform: Everything Muin Chat Can Do

Conversations and scenarios shown are illustrative examples of Muin’s capabilities, not real user interactions.

Most business chat tools are glorified search boxes. You type a question, get a link, and still have to do the actual work yourself.

Imagine this: it is Monday morning. You open Muin and ask: “What grants are due this month?” Within seconds, you have a prioritized list with deadlines, submission requirements, and draft status. You follow up: “Which ones are missing budget narratives?” Two grants flagged. “Draft a budget narrative for the DOE workforce grant based on last quarter’s actuals.” Done. Three questions, three minutes, and your grant reporting is under control before your first cup of coffee gets cold.

That is the difference between a search box and a business assistant.

Muin Chat does not just find information — it takes action. It can search your documents, summarize a report, submit an expense, check your calendar, and draft a memo, all within the same conversation. And it understands context: ask a follow-up question and it knows exactly what you are referring to.

Under the hood, Muin Chat has 29 built-in tools organized across nine categories. Here is what each one does and how you can use it.

Muin Dashboard with Chat Interface

Document Intelligence: Your Entire Library, One Conversation Away

This is the largest tool category, with seven tools dedicated to working with your documents. If you deal with contracts, invoices, policies, or any kind of business document, this is where Muin Chat saves you the most time.

Search Without Keywords

The Document Search tool uses semantic matching, which means you can describe what you are looking for instead of guessing the right keywords.

Try asking:

  • “Find contracts that mention automatic renewal clauses”
  • “Search for any documents related to the Austin office lease”
  • “Show me invoices from Acme Corp over $5,000”

Muin searches your entire document library and ranks results by relevance, not just keyword frequency.

Get the Full Picture

When you need complete details on a specific document, Get Document retrieves everything: status, dates, tags, linked entities, and processing history.

Try asking:

  • “Pull up the details on document #DOC-2024-0892”
  • “Show me the full record for that vendor agreement”

Summarize Any Document in Seconds

The Summarize Document tool generates AI-powered summaries in four styles:

  • Executive — A high-level overview for leadership
  • Key Points — Bullet-point extraction of what matters
  • Action Items — Every task, deadline, and required action pulled out
  • Full — A comprehensive summary that preserves all the important details

Try asking:

  • “Give me an executive summary of the Q4 financial report”
  • “What are the action items in the meeting notes from Tuesday?”
  • “Summarize the key points in the vendor agreement”

Merge Multiple Documents

Need to consolidate materials before a meeting? Document Merge combines two to ten documents using one of three strategies: concatenate them in sequence, summarize across all of them, or synthesize content intelligently by resolving overlaps and contradictions.

Try asking:

  • “Merge the three vendor proposals into a comparison document”
  • “Synthesize this week’s meeting notes into one summary”

AI-Powered Document Review

Document Review runs structured analysis on your documents so you do not have to read every page yourself. Choose from four review types:

  • Comparison — Side-by-side analysis of two or more documents
  • Summary — Analytical summary with observations
  • Gap Analysis — Finds missing information or coverage holes
  • Compliance Check — Reviews against regulatory or policy requirements

Try asking:

  • “Compare the original contract with the amended version”
  • “Run a compliance check on this vendor agreement for GDPR”
  • “Do a gap analysis on our employee handbook”

Create New Documents from Chat

Document Create drafts new documents based on your instructions. It supports six formats: memo, report, summary, letter, policy, and procedure.

Try asking:

  • “Draft a memo announcing the new PTO policy”
  • “Create a report summarizing vendor spend for Q4”
  • “Write a procedure document for employee onboarding”

Channel-Specific Versions

Have a report that needs to go out as an email, a Slack message, and a WhatsApp notification? Document Create Version generates optimized versions for each channel without you rewriting anything.

Supported channels: email, WhatsApp, SMS, Slack, and summary format.

Try asking:

  • “Turn this report into an email for the finance team”
  • “Create a Slack version of this policy update”
  • “Make a WhatsApp-friendly summary of the vendor notice”

Financial Operations: Invoices and Expenses Through Conversation

Five tools connect Muin Chat to your finance module. These require the finance module on your subscription.

Invoice Lookup

Search invoices by number, vendor name, amount range, status, or date. Results include key details like amount, due date, and current status.

Try asking:

  • “Find invoice #INV-2026-0451”
  • “Show me unpaid invoices from Metro Supply”
  • “What invoices over $10,000 are due this week?”

Expense Submission

Submit expenses directly through chat. Muin shows you a preview with all the details before anything is submitted, so you can verify and confirm.

Try asking:

  • “Submit an expense for $245 for the client dinner last Tuesday”
  • “I need to submit an $89 office supply purchase”

Pending Invoice Overview

Get a structured view of everything waiting for payment, grouped by vendor with running totals.

Try asking:

  • “What invoices are waiting for payment?”
  • “How much do we owe across all outstanding invoices?”

Vendor and Contract Management: Compliance at Your Fingertips

Two tools for the vendors module that keep you on top of your vendor relationships and contract portfolio.

Search vendors by name, category, compliance status, risk score, or any combination. Results include compliance indicators and contact information.

Try asking:

  • “Which vendors have a risk score below 70?”
  • “Find vendors with expiring insurance certificates”
  • “Show me all active IT Services vendors”

Search contracts by status, expiration date, or utilization metrics. Muin highlights contracts that need your attention — approaching expiration, low utilization, or up for renewal.

Try asking:

  • “Show me contracts expiring in the next 60 days”
  • “Which contracts have utilization below 50%?”
  • “List contracts up for renewal this quarter”

Calendar and Scheduling: Check Your Availability Instantly

The Calendar Check tool is always available regardless of your subscription. It reads your calendar to show events, check open time slots, and scan multi-day ranges.

Try asking:

  • “What’s on my calendar tomorrow?”
  • “Am I free Thursday afternoon?”
  • “Show me my schedule for next week”

It understands natural date references like “tomorrow,” “next Monday,” and “the week of March 15.”

Self-Service Help: Instant Answers from Your Knowledge Base

The Help Search tool queries the Muin knowledge base and returns relevant articles ranked by how closely they match your question.

Try asking:

  • “How do I set up approval workflows?”
  • “What file formats can I upload?”
  • “How does vendor risk scoring work?”

This is particularly useful when you are learning a new feature or need a quick refresher without leaving your workflow.

Additional Platform Tools

Three more tools round out the set, all available on every plan:

Approval Status aggregates your pending approvals from every module into a single queue. Instead of checking invoices, expenses, and documents separately, ask:

  • “What approvals are waiting for me?”
  • “Do I have any overdue approvals?”

Web Search runs real-time searches for external information like regulatory updates, compliance requirements, and industry benchmarks:

  • “What are the latest OSHA reporting requirements?”
  • “Find industry benchmarks for vendor payment terms”

Inbox Summary gives you a structured view of your document review queue, broken down by type and priority:

  • “What’s in my inbox?”
  • “How many items are waiting for my review?”

Tools Match Your Subscription

Muin Chat is module-aware. Five platform tools (Calendar, Approvals & Inbox, Help & Web Research) are always available. The remaining tools unlock as you add modules:

  • Documents module unlocks 7 tools: search, retrieve, summarize, merge, review, create, and create versions
  • Finance module unlocks 5 tools: invoice lookup, expense submission, pending invoices, check payment status, and create payment request
  • Vendors module unlocks 2 tools: vendor search and contract search
  • HR module unlocks 3 tools: unified certifications, certification summary, and expiring certifications
  • Communications module unlocks 3 tools: send message, get conversations, and check unread
  • Support module unlocks 4 tools: search tickets, ticket status, create ticket, and support dashboard

If you ask a question that requires a module you do not have, Muin tells you which module is needed rather than failing silently. The chat experience grows naturally with your subscription.

Tools Work Together

The real power is in combining tools within a single conversation. Muin maintains context across messages, so each follow-up builds on the last:

  1. “Find the Q4 grant compliance report for our DOE award” (Document Search)
  2. “Summarize the key findings and any flagged issues” (Summarize Document)
  3. “Compare it with the Q3 report to see what changed” (Document Review)
  4. “Draft a memo to the board summarizing our compliance status across all active grants” (Document Create)

Four tools, one conversation, no context switching. That is the difference between a search box and a business assistant.

Example Conversations

Conversations and scenarios shown are illustrative examples of Muin’s capabilities, not real user interactions.

Here’s what working with Muin Chat could look like in practice — not the structured tool descriptions above, but the natural conversations you might have.

Quick compliance check:

“What compliance deadlines do we have this month?”

Four items: state charitable registration renewal (March 15), DOE grant interim report (March 20), Form 990 extension deadline (March 15), and employee handbook annual review (March 31). Two are flagged as needing attention.

Finance deep-dive:

“Summarize our Q4 expenses by program”

Total: $847,230 (up 12% from Q3). Top programs: Youth Development ($234,500), Community Outreach ($198,400), Administration ($156,200). Notable: Youth Development spending up 25% due to new after-school expansion. Grant-funded expenses are 94% on track against budget.

Cross-module intelligence:

“Give me a full picture of our DOE workforce grant”

Muin pulls from Finance (spending vs. budget by line item), Compliance (reporting deadlines and submission status), HR (staff charged to the grant), and Documents (narrative reports and supporting materials) to give you a complete picture — no switching between modules.

Context that carries:

“What’s our compliance status?” [Shows overview across all grants and regulatory obligations] “Just for federal grants” [Filters without you repeating “compliance”]

The difference between Muin Chat and a generic AI assistant is context. It knows your grants, your donors, your compliance deadlines, and your team. Every answer is grounded in your actual data, not generic responses.
