How to Set Up Muin Markets, Step by Step

Muin Markets runs in the Muin platform today: start a 30-day trial on a Platform Plan. A standalone Muin Markets product comes later; you can get one email when it opens on the Muin Markets page.

Muin Markets is a register for markets, pop-ups and community sales. It takes cash and card, applies discounts, sends receipts by email or text, and saves every buyer as a contact.

What it costs

Plan Fee
Muin Markets Free to use. Muin earns 0.5% of each card sale.

Cash sales carry no Muin fee.

Step 1: Open Muin Markets

In Muin, open Products in the menu, then Muin Markets. This is its Product Home: the setup checklist, Run setup and Go live.

Step 2: Press Run setup

Muin adds three starter categories, Food, Drinks and Goods, when you have none yet. Rename or delete them under Finance > Point of Sale > Products & Inventory. If you already have categories, setup leaves them alone.

Step 3: Check what is left

The checklist needs two things before you go live. Each open item has a Fix link to the screen that sets it:

  • You have items to sell. Add what you sell and its price under Products & Inventory, one at a time or by CSV import.
  • Someone can open the register. Give yourself or a cashier a PIN under Staff & Shifts.

Until card payments are connected, the checklist also shows Card sales can reach your bank account. Connect them under Settings > Payments. You can take cash before you do, and this item does not block going live.

Step 4: Go live

Press Go live. Muin checks every required item first. If one is missing, nothing changes and the item links to the screen that fixes it. When everything passes, you are live.

Step 5: Take your first sale

Open Finance, then Point of Sale > Register, and enter your PIN.

  1. Tap an item, search for it, or scan its barcode.
  2. Take a percentage or an amount off a line or the whole sale, if you need to.
  3. Type the buyer’s name and email to save them as a contact. Tick the marketing box only when they agree to hear from you.
  4. Press PAY (F1) and take cash or card.
  5. Print the receipt, or send it by email or text.

Questions people ask

Can I sell without internet? No. The register needs a connection to create an order. If it drops, the cart stays where it is until you reconnect.

Can more than one person serve? Yes. Give each person a PIN under Staff & Shifts, and the reports show who rang each sale.

Do I need the Finance module? No. Muin Markets turns on the Point of Sale menu for you. Invoices, bills and reconciliation are part of the Finance module or a plan.
