How to Use Muin Grant Finder + Tracker, Step by Step
Set up Grant Finder, see your first grant matches, track the ones you want, draft and download the proposal, and renew the grants you win. What each step does and what it costs.
Grant Finder + Tracker finds grants that fit your organization and keeps track of the ones you save. It reads federal listings, state grant pages, foundation tax returns and community foundation pages, scores each grant against your profile, and reminds you before deadlines.
This guide walks through it from setup to renewing a grant you won.
What it costs
| Plan | Tracked grants | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Free | 5 | $0 |
| Monthly | Unlimited | $39 a month |
| Yearly | Unlimited | $349 a year |
A tracked grant is one you Track. Each scan uses AI credits. Looking at your saved results uses none. If your organization is on a Muin plan, your plan’s limits apply instead.
Drafting is included in Grant Finder (paid) and the Grants Solution, and in every Plan.
Step 1: Open Grant Finder’s page
Sign up for Muin. Then open Products in the menu, then Grant Finder + Tracker. This is its Product Home: the setup checklist, Run setup, your latest scan and your tracked grants.
Step 2: Answer three questions
Click Run setup. Muin asks:
- What does your organization do?
- Which state do you work in?
- What is your yearly budget, in dollars?
Answers already on file are filled in. Click Save and run setup.
Step 3: Let setup do the rest
Setup shows each thing it does:
- It turns on the Grant Finder agent.
- It reads your website and your public tax filings, and fills in profile details that are still empty, such as your programs and service area. It never overwrites what you typed.
- It starts your first scan. Matches show on Find grants, usually within a few minutes.
The checklist turns green when Grant Finder is on, your mission, state and budget are set, and the first scan has finished.
Step 4: Look at your matches
Open Grant Seeking > Find grants. Each match shows:
- A Match score. 80% and above is a strong fit.
- The funder’s full name and the program’s status as read on a date, for example “Open, read 7 Oct 2026”.
- Open the program page and About this funder.
Grants you cannot apply for are left out with the reason. Due soon lists the ones with a close deadline.
Where the matches come from:
- Federal listings from Grants.gov.
- Foundation grants from IRS 990 and 990-PF returns, with a Data as of date.
- State grant pages for California, Florida, Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Texas, Virginia and Washington, and each of these states’ Nonprofit Security Grant Program page.
- Community foundation and company grant pages.
- Any funder page you add under Pages you watch.
Step 5: Track the grants you want
Click Track on a match. It moves to Grant Seeking > Received Grants at Identified. Mark matches Good fit or Poor fit with a reason, and the next scan learns from it.
Step 6: Write the proposal
Open the tracked grant and click Start a proposal. Drafting is included in Grant Finder (paid) and the Grants Solution, and in every Plan.
- The Before you apply card checks IRS exempt status, annual filings, SAM.gov registration and state charity registration.
- Click Start Interview. Answers Muin already knows are filled in with where they came from.
- Click Generate All Sections. Every figure in the draft shows its source. A fact only you have is marked [To provide].
- Add the budget, letters of support and your IRS letter in the Attachments panel.
Step 7: Download and send it
Click Download Word or Download PDF. Each drafted section is under its heading. Use Word to format it for the funder’s own form. When you send it, click Submit Proposal and the grant moves to Application Submitted.
Reminders you get
Muin reminds the person assigned to the grant, or the owners and admins when no one is assigned. Reminders arrive by email, push notification and in Muin.
- Application due: 7 days, 3 days and 1 day before the deadline.
- Time to renew: 60 days and 30 days before a won award’s period ends.
Step 8: Renew a grant you won
Open the grant and click Renew, then Start renewal. Muin starts next cycle’s application with the same funder, fund, owner and terms, and copies the proposal text so you can update it. The award you won is not changed.
