How to Set Up Online Giving in Muin, Step by Step
Connect Stripe, let Muin draft your giving page, add a Donate button to your website, go live, and take gifts in person with Tap to Pay. No plan fee.
Online Giving puts a Donate button on your website that opens your own giving page. Donors give once or monthly and get a receipt by email. At events and after prayers, Tap to Pay turns your phone into a card reader.
There is no plan fee. You pay card processing fees on each gift.
This guide takes you from nothing to your first gift in about 15 minutes.
Step 1: Open Online Giving
In Muin, open Products in the menu, then Online Giving. This is its Product Home: the setup checklist, Run setup, Install on your website, Go live, and what came in this month.
Step 2: Connect Stripe
Donations are paid out to your bank through Stripe. Open Settings → Payments, connect Stripe and answer Stripe’s questions about your organization and bank account. Only you can do this step. Until Stripe turns payouts on, the checklist reads “Not connected: donors cannot pay yet.”
Step 3: Press Run setup
Muin fills in what it can:
- Giving programs. For a mosque, church, school or food bank, Muin adds the purposes organizations like yours raise money for. For a mosque these are Masjid Upkeep, Weekend School, Ramadan and Eid, and Help for Families in Need. Rename or delete any of them under Giving Programs.
- Your giving page. Muin drafts a donate page with your logo, brand color and mission. If you have not set them, it reads them from your website.
Running setup again never changes what you edited.
Step 4: Publish your giving page
Open Giving Pages, read the draft, and press Publish. The draft stays private until you do.
Step 5: Add the Donate button to your website
Open Install on your website and copy the Donate button snippet. The guide shows where to paste it in WordPress, Wix, Squarespace and GoDaddy. The button opens your giving page.
On WordPress, the Muin plugin does it without code: create a connect code on the Product Home, paste it into the plugin, and add the Muin Donate Button block to a page.
Once the button loads on your website, “Donate button seen on your website” turns to Seen. This item is optional. If you only share your giving link or a QR code, you can still go live.
Step 6: Go live
Press Go live. Muin checks that donations can reach your bank, that a giving page is live, and that donors can choose what to give to. If anything is missing, nothing changes and each item links to the screen that fixes it. When everything passes, you get a confirmation email.
What your donors see
- A Donate button on your website, or your link or QR code.
- Your giving page, in your colors, with the causes you raise money for.
- They pick a cause and an amount, choose once or monthly, and pay.
- A receipt by email that names what the gift was for.
Monthly donors can pause, change or cancel their gift themselves from the donor portal.
Take gifts in person with Tap to Pay
- Install the Muin Go app on your phone and sign in.
- Open Pay and complete Tap to Pay setup for that phone once.
- Enter the amount. The donor taps their card on the back of your phone.
If a tap is missed, Pay → Settings → Reader Check checks the phone, the connection and your setup in one pass.
Questions people ask
Do we need a fund for every cause? No. A cause is a giving program, and it is what the donor sees on the receipt. Most organizations need one fund, or two with a Zakat fund.
Where does the money go? To the bank account you connected through Stripe.
